FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are some of the most frequently asked questions pertaining to our 501(c)(3) organization. We hope the answers to these questions provide more clarity prior to your donation.
Yes. The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the state of Ohio.
No. We have no affiliation with The Ohio State University. We are a separate nonprofit entity.
Your donation will go towards specific Ohio State football and basketball student-athletes. In exchange for compensation, the student-athlete will help promote and raise awareness for one of our approved charitable causes. Additionally, we retain cash-on-hand to preserve for incoming Freshman and future classes/Buckeyes.
You can visit the donation page on our website and choose the amount you wish to donate. You can pay with PayPal, Venmo or credit card.
Currently, the donations through our website will only go towards the football and men’s basketball team. If you wish to make a specific donation towards another sport, you can email info@thefoundationohio.com. For a certain amount, you can however make a designated gift to a certain sport.
Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
After submitting your donation, you will receive an email receipt with your donation amount. This receipt will serve as official documentation. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
All board members are not being paid for their advisory and efforts but purely volunteering their expertise and time for the well being of the cause and their love and passion for Ohio State athletics.

Our board members have extensive experience with nonprofit and charitable organizations. We will strategically select which nonprofits to partner with. You can view our list of current nonprofit partnerships HERE. Additionally, if your donation meets a certain threshold, you can designate a charity or cause important to you for the student-athletes to engage with or attend a specific charitable function.
Our board members have a strong pulse on Ohio State athletics. We will partner with athletes based on what we feel is in the best interest of the Ohio State Football & Basketball programs. We will also consider which athletes will help raise the most awareness for charitable purposes.
Most charitible functions, organizations, and events pay celebrities and high profile people to attend their fundraisers (appearance fees), to help raise money, and certainly for speaking fees. Now with NIL, Famous College Athletes are entitled to the same.
Student athletes will be compensated for participation in charitible events, fundraisers, and functions via appearance fees, meet & greets, and speaking fees, no differently than other celebrities or news media personalities who get paid to give the keynote speech at political or charity dinners.
There are several ways for student-athletes to get paid via NIL (Name, Image and Likeness). When you donate to a Foundation NIL, there are numerous benefits. For starters, your donated money can be used for tax write-off purposes since we’re a registered 501(c)(3). Second, your money will also be going to a good cause when donating to a Foundation NIL. The student-athlete is required to participate in community and charity related activities. An endorsement NIL is simply paying an athlete to partake in commercial endorsements, like commercials, autographs, etc. The Foundation was started with the core principle of helping student-athletes while also teaching them to enhance local community, rather than just showing up and pushing a product.
